Welcome to Canary Rising! I’m Crystal Marie, an artist, author, and instructor working primarily in collage, mixed media, and encaustic wax painting,
My process is intuitive. I come to the table with an open mind and an open heart. Aside from the technical decision-making required to get me started, I’ve learned that my best work comes when I get out of my own way and allow the work to tell me what it wants to be.
It sounds a little obscure and mysterious, but what it all boils down to is giving yourself permission to follow your own creative curiosity to discover that everything you really need to know about creating a great composition is already there inside of you.

Artist's Moving Sale
It's official, I'm moving at the end of May from my home of the past five years, to a currently unknown destination. My hope is to find a place in the city—Chicago, in order to connect with a stronger art community and create a more sustainable life.
At the same time, I'm restructuring (my 2024 word of the year), to help me achieve these goals.
This sale is intended to help cover moving expenses and income loss during the transition.
The offerings will be updated weekly, ranging from downloadable course deals and discounts on current self-paced courses, to physical inventory, art, and decor as I get closer to moving day.
