Inspired by Sue Monk Kidds novel, The Book Of Longings, this course centers around creating an incantation bowl in which words of a prayer are inscribed as a meditative practice.
This course covers crafting your own vessels from a number of materials including plaster cloth, paper clay, and encaustic wax; plus two different styles of handmade brushes--One using the participants own hair or that of a loved one, and the other from natural and found materials.
While the focus of the workshop is not about the art of mark-making, several exercises are discussed/demoed using the handmade brushes to help orient the participant to approaching the art form as an extension of one's own soul.
As an art form, Sacred Objects will equip you to approach your work with a 3D sculptural sensibility.
