Course 1: Paper and Layers

Discover how the use of encaustic wax can take your paper arts to the next level through an examination of layers. From those that lie under the wax, to those that create the surface design of the piece, and everything in between. 

  • Introduction: A 6-minute introduction the intuitive process of creating
  • Timed Exercises: A 53-minute lesson featuring a series of timed exercises to produce encaustic painting on paper with collage. 
  • Paper and Layers on Panel: 1 hour and 33-minute lesson featuring the use of collage and encaustic on panel, beginning with building textures as under layers to finishing with surface design techniques. 

Course 2: Found Object Assemblage & Sculpture:


Create beautiful, sculptural art, from everyday objects, through my unique process of painting on glass, metal, and other substrates with encaustic wax 

  • Large Object Found Assemblage: A 53-minute lesson on the use of large found objects inspired by my Shields series. Emphasis on making strong connections for the structural integrity of the design and for the deeper meaning in the work. 
  • Found Object Sculpture Part 1: A 38-minute lesson on developing a free standing sculpture from found objects and materials and prepping it for encaustic wax. 3 different sculptural/assemblage projects are included.
  • Found Object Sculpture Part 2: A 43-minute lesson on applying encaustic wax to found object sculpture surfaces including glass, ceramic, metal, and cardboard. Finishing with a variety of surface design techniques. 

PLUS A 27-minute BONUS video!

  • Covering the basic setup and encaustic wax painting for those who are new to the medium.
